Host help
Short answers for the laptop, the projector, and the phones in the room.
Two screens
Keep the host console on your laptop. It shows the correct answer and who has locked in. Open Audience screen on the TV or projector — that view never marks the right option.
Getting people in
Put the 6-digit code on the audience screen. Teams can type it at quiznightlive.co.uk/join, scan the QR, or open a join link you copy from the lobby. No app install.
Reconnect
If the host browser refreshes, choose Rejoin — the same room code stays live. If the laptop shuts down or you open a different browser, open Sessions and use Rejoin as host on the active room. If a phone drops, the player opens Join again on that device; the team name and locked answers come back. A disconnected team can be removed from the lobby if they are not coming back.
After the last question
Review totals privately, then show scores. Every room is recapped automatically: scores, the answer key, each team’s locked answer, and the lock time. Open it from the host console or Sessions if a result is disputed later. Delete removes it from your Sessions list; administrators can still open a deleted recap.
Credits
A host account needs credits to create a live room, including a replay of a past session. One credit is used when the room is created and is not returned after that. Buy packs from Credits. Administrators can host without spending credits.
Quizmaster Pro
Quizmaster Pro is the toolkit for professional quiz masters who do not want to waste time planning on the night. It includes everything a regular Quizmaster can do, plus:
- AI question search — describe the round in plain English on Plan. The bank is ranked to match. If an OpenAI key is configured, the request is interpreted first.
- Pre-built quizzes — choose and order the questions, save the plan, then run those exact items later from Your Quizzes or the host console.
A regular Quizmaster still hosts live from a pack. Upgrade to Pro from Pricing for £19.99 a month, or cancel later from Account.
Your Quizzes
Quizmaster Pro can save a planned quiz from Plan or the host console, then load it later from Your Quizzes. A plan with chosen questions runs that set. A pack-only plan still draws a fresh random set. Anyone can replay a past night’s exact questions from Sessions.
Game modes
Each round has a game mode. Classic locks on the first tap. Casual lets a team change their pick until they press Lock in. Announced hides the option words on phones and the TV until you press Show Answers, so you can read the question over the mic first. Administrators can save named modes from Modes. Custom mode editing for quizmasters is coming later. The rules are copied onto the room when you create it.
Your own questions
Add questions from Question Bank. A question that has already been used in a room cannot be edited or deleted, so old recaps stay accurate. Administrators can select unused questions to delete, remove a whole category or sub-category, and bulk-load a UTF-8 CSV from Import.
